Description of Yellow Faced Parrot
The Yellow Faced---Poicephalus flavifrons
The following information is a portion of an article written by Eric D. Hilton.
- Poicephalus flavifrons flavifrons
- Poicephalus flavifrons aurantiiceps
Similar in shape to the Jardine but of a paler green. Also there is no red or
orange/ red markings on the body or head, instead as its name suggests it has
a large area of yellow around the face extending into the crown and around the
eyes.
Its distribution is exclusively in Ethiopia.
Habitat: Mountain forest
Breeding in captivity: No information is available
Sexing: Surgical / DNA
Availability and suitability as pets: There are no examples in UK. As to the
suitability as pets I have no information at all. But feel that if any examples
are obtained they should not be held as pets. But set up as pairs to establish
a captive breeding stock. There are obviously there are no prices available
for these birds.
